Sweetwater Fisheries where we're redefining agriculture and sustainability through the innovative practice of aquaponics.

We're passionate about growing fish and vegetables in a way that prioritizes environmental health, quality, and nutrition. Our journey began with a vision to fight for food insecurity and sustainable practices, and today, we proudly stand as a pioneer in the field of on-land fish farming in Barbados.

Our Story

Founded by a team of dedicated individuals who shared a deep commitment to ecological harmony and healthy food production, Sweetwater Fisheries emerged as a response to the growing concerns of food security, quality and overfishing of Caribbean waters. With an unwavering belief in sustainable practices, we set out to create a farm that minimizes its environmental footprint while maximizing the quality of the produce.

Our Approach

What sets us apart is our innovative use of aquaponics—a holistic system that merges aquaculture and hydroponics. Our closed-loop aquaponic systems work in perfect harmony. Fish waste provides nutrients to the plants, and the plants, in turn, purify the water for the fish. This sustainable cycle significantly reduces water usage and eliminates the need for harmful chemical fertilizers and pesticides.

Our Commitment to Sustainability

At Sweetwater Fisheries, sustainability is at the core of everything we do. We work tirelessly to reduce waste and energy consumption. Our mission is to create a farm that operates in harmony with nature, leaving a positive impact on the environment.

Healthy and Nutrient-Rich Produce

We take pride in the superior quality of our products. Our vegetables and herbs are grown in nutrient-rich water, free from contaminants. Our fish thrive in a clean, controlled environment, which allows us to provide you with the freshest, tastiest, and healthiest options available.

Community and Education

We believe that our mission extends beyond our farm's boundaries. We actively engage with our local community, sharing knowledge about aquaponics and sustainable farming practices. We host educational events and meetings to raise awareness and empower individuals to make more sustainable choices.
